Beach sand is quartz, and quartz is harder than carpet fibre. Every grain that reaches the base of the pile cuts the fibre a little more each time somebody walks on it. That is why a Cape carpet can be spotless and still look worn: the damage is mechanical, not a stain.
We use hot water extraction, the method carpet manufacturers specify, with a clear-water rinse pass that takes the salt out rather than leaving it in the backing to hold moisture. Done properly the carpet comes out damp, not wet, and dries in four to six hours with air moving.

Extraction, not a wet vacuum
Pre-treat, then agitate
Sand and salt sit at the base of the pile. A pre-spray and a groomer bring the soil up to where the machine can actually reach it.
Hot water extraction
Truck-mounted heat and vacuum pull the water back out with the soil in it. The fibre is left damp, not soaked, so it dries in hours rather than days.
Dry time and protection
Air movers go down on request, and a fibre protector can be applied while the carpet is clean, which is the only moment it works properly.

How long does it take to dry?
Four to six hours with air moving. If a carpet is still wet the next morning, too much solution went in and not enough came out.
Can you remove pet stains and odour?
Usually. Surface stains lift easily. Anything that soaked through to the padding needs treating at that level, and we will tell you honestly before starting whether it is worth it.
How often on Cape Cod?
Every six months for rooms near exterior doors, every nine to twelve for main living areas, every twelve to eighteen for bedrooms. Closer to the water, shorten all three.
Do you clean area rugs too?
Yes, including wool and antiques. Those are washed on both sides and dried properly, which is not something that can be done in place.
